The course is designed for students who will soon become business professionals in the fast-changing business world of today. The goal is to help students learn how to use and manage information technologies to revitalize business processes, improve business decision making, and gain competitive advantage. Thus, it places a major emphasis on up-to-date coverage of the essential rile of Internet technologies in providing a platform for business, commerce, and collaboration processes among all business stakeholders in today’s networked enterprises and global markets.

教学目的
The course is designed for students who will soon become business professionals in the fast-changing business world of today. The goal is to help students learn how to use and manage information technologies to revitalize business processes, improve business decision making, and gain competitive advantage. Thus, it places a major emphasis on up-to-date coverage of the essential rile of Internet technologies in providing a platform for business, commerce, and collaboration processes among all business stakeholders in today’s networked enterprises and global markets.
教学要求

To achieve the course purpose, it relies absolutely onthe consensus between the instructor and all participants that everyone shouldcontribute his/her effort and wisdom to the success.

The lectures to build up the fundamental framework ofManaging Information Systems are offered by instructor, especially in the partsof foundation concepts, business applications, development processes, andmanaging challenges. Reading, presentation and discussion will be used forfurther understanding the issues in each chapter.

In addition, group discussions are very important part ofthe class learning. For each group, student shouldpresent his/her understandingabout some specific issue related to MIS, at least 1 times, at class andcomplete written assignments and a term project.

课程重点难点

The purpose of this course is to provide students withunderstandings:

(1)     Fundamental business information systemsconcepts, including trends, components, and roles of information systems, andcompetitive advantages and applications.

(2)    Informationtechnologies, including major concepts, developments, and managerial issuesinvolved in computer hardware, software, telecommunications networks, dataresource management technologies, and other technologies.

(3)    Businessapplications, how businesses use the Internet and other informationtechnologies to support their business processes, e-business and e-commerceinitiatives, and business decision making.

(4)    Developmentprocesses, developing and implementing business/IT strategies and systems usingseveral strategies planning and application development approaches

(5)    Managementchallenges, meaning the challenges of business/IT technologies and strategies,including security and ethical challenges and global IT management.

教学方法

以情景创设为手段,进一步完善启发式、讨论式、参与式、辩论式教学方法,产生更好的教学效果。为了充分发挥多媒体教学的优势,精心制作多媒体课件,启发学生的思维。注重培养学生的实践能力,精心组织学生易于理解掌握的应用实例,使得教与学融为一体,理论与实践融为一体,使学生能把学到的理论知识应用到实践中去,通过实践来巩固自己所学的知识。在课外,利用超星教学平台,为学生自主学习提供便利条件。

(1) 教学设计情境化:依据教学内容,设计教学情境,引导学生进入情境、情境触动,形成学生自己的体验、感悟,并对教学内容产生个体独特的学习欲望和兴趣,使教学生动化。

(2) 情境创设主题化:在情境创设过程中,按照课程和学生的认知特点,将教学内容有机整合,构建成一个个教学主题,使之既有明确的教学目标,也有相应的教学内容,以引导学生主动、有效地学习。

(3) 主题导向项目化:在明确教学主题之后,密切联系相关产业发展和教师的科研实际,根据学生知识与能力背景,将相关教学内容设计成若干具体的训练项目。

(4) 项目实施责任化:在项目实施过程中,注意明确责任、分工合作、团队学习、共同提高。项目小组有指导性的成员分工安排,形成人人参与、团队合作的共同体,培养学生的责任感。

(5) 责任落实成果化:在责任落实过程中,学生个人或小组的学习成果,须按大作业报告、研究报告等要求以作品的形式呈现,并在小组、班级交流。这有利于提高学生的写作能力,达到认知系统化、有序化的目的。

(6)成果评价民主化:在成果评价过程中,组织学生对成果进行自评和互评。这样不仅可以培养学生发现问题、思考问题和解决问题的创新能力,而且可以促使学生养成学习他人长处的良好习惯。通过自评、互评和辩论,学生的学习主体意识得到充分体现和加强,思考和解决实际问题的能力也有了很大的提高。
